The band re-creates the sound of a 19th century brass band, using original antique instruments, mouthpieces, musical arrangements and performance practice. The band performs in accurate reproductions of 19th century clothing to reproduce the appearance of a brass band of the 19th century. Bandsmen can appear as civilians, or wearing Confederate gray or Union blue, as appropriate to the occasion. This ensures that the music is reproduced as accurately as possible, and heard and seen by audiences as it was performed in the mid-19th century.

We perform a wide variety of music, including familiar patriotic tunes and popular music of the period, and excerpts from the most popular operas of the Civil War era, as well as period holiday music.
